WNFR 13, engineer's side view
Description:
Winifrede Railroad #13 is an EMD SW1500, painted black with yellow lettering. It has standard AAR Type A switcher trucks and solid ("friction") bearings on the axles. The "C" logo on the cab side had several colors but I don't remember what they were or if there was another graphic on the inside of the "C"--that could have been a diamond, for example. I took this picture on a warm summer afternoon in 1979 but I don't recall the exact date. The Kanawha River is about a mile to the north, or behind the cars.

Description:
WNFR, ex-WRR 13, hauls a string of ex-C&O hoppers towards the camera (geographic south) at Winifrede Junction, WV in the summer of 1979 (date is uncertain). I don't recall the function or purpose of the overhead structure or the building to the left.

WNFR 13, brakeman's side view
Description:
This view shows the fireman's/brakeman's side of WNFR, ex-WRR 13, as the unit leads a string of empty hoppers south from Winifrede Junction, WV. Date is uncertain but it was in 1979. Note the recessed port for the sand box, near the front of the unit, and the recessed ratchet-style handbrake. The three horns are centered on the front of the cab. I don't remember what kind of sound or "chime" these horns made.
